COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been exposed to COVID 19 or diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition on the COVID 19 Notification Form (available via a link on the Student Code of Conduct COVID19 webpage). Course Information
Description Presentation of the theory and practice of chemical reformation. Topics include terminology, application, and workplace competencies related to chemical reformation.
Prerequisites Completion of CSME 1501 and CSME 1410
Learning Outcomes 1. Analyze client's scalp for abrasions or scalp conditions that would prevent them from receiving a chemical service.(PSLO#2) measured by student skill sheet.
2. Practice using proper protective cream, on the scalp for chemical services (PSLO#2) measured by student skill sheet.
3. Demonstrates the use of end wraps in conjunction with perm wrapping techniques (PSLO#3) measured by student skill sheet.
4. Tabulate the correct size perm tool appropriate for the desired curl.(PSLO#3) measured by Chapter 20 Unit Exam.
5. Differentiate between the chemo compounds used for straightening or curling the hair (PSLO#4) measured by Chapter 20 Unit Exam.

Attendance Policy Attendance Policy

Regular class attendance is important to the attainment of the educational objectives of the college. The cosmetology program has formulated an attendance policy that is consistent with the objectives of the program and the needs of the student to fulfill all necessary requirements needed.

Poor attendance is a leading reason for termination from a job in all areas of employment. With this factor in mind, the instructor monitors student course activity daily.

Attendance is 10% of your overall grade, and will be monitored daily. (Online & Face to Face)

Class Time: 9 a.m. – 3:30 (Please arrive 15 minutes early to be screened before clocking in; Washing/Sanitizing Hands, Temperature Checked Daily, and submit Screening Form)

Lunch: 11:00 – 11:30 or 11:30 – 12:00

Afternoon Break: 1:30 – 1:45 Lab/Face to Face Time: 2 days a week for a total of 12 hours. Online Theory / Lab: At least 22 hours a week. (Theory, Assignments, Video Lectures, Hands on Related Videos) Total hours for the week: 34 hours

· Consult with your instructor in advance if you know you will be absent, any days missed must be made up online through Blackboard, Microsoft Teams (Video Discussions), Quizlet/Quizlet Live etc.

· Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations (TDLR) mandates documentation is available for the State Inspector showing attendance, theory and practical skills for online and face to face.

· Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations mandates the completion and passing of all the registered modules (courses) to be eligible to take the state board exam.

· Lamar State College-Port Arthur mandates the completion and passing of all cosmetology classes with a “C” or better to attain the knowledge and skills needed to pass your State board exam.
